#129 of 383Split-Screen Keyboard Shortcut
Press shot: a laptop screen showing two application windows snapped side by side in a split-screen layout, with a code editor on the left and a browser on the right, the desktop visible behind.
A split-screen keyboard shortcut on my laptop lets me snap 2 windows side by side with a single key combination. Productivity gain from not dragging and resizing windows manually is enough that going back to a single-monitor setup no longer feels limiting. Snap zones are smart enough to suggest quarter-screen positions when I hold the shortcut and arrow keys. Animation is fast enough that rearranging my workspace takes about 2 seconds. The feature is built into the operating system but most people I know have never used it. I think the gap between available tools and discovered tools is one of the biggest design problems in software. No extra installation needed, just a shortcut I memorized once.
