Personal photo: a campus parking garage EV charging station with a glowing green LED ring around the connector, a tap-to-pay terminal, and a digital usage display, with a concrete parking structure visible behind.

Campus parking garage just got new EV charging stations with a tap-to-start system. No app required, and the interaction is faster than paying a parking meter. More public infrastructure should work this way because the difference between tapping a card and downloading an app is the difference between using a service and abandoning it. LED status rings glow green when available and blue when charging, visible from across the garage. That visual feedback eliminates the need to walk to each post to check. According to the usage counter on the display, the 2 stations serve about 40 cars per day. That throughput from just 2 outlets suggests demand is already ahead of supply.
