#168 of 420Voted Sticker Design
Screenshot: a close-up of an 'I Voted' sticker in its classic red, white, and blue oval design with an American flag motif, shown on someone's denim jacket lapel.
Walking out of the polling place with the "I Voted" sticker on my jacket. I love this small red and white oval that announces a private act to everyone who sees me for the rest of the day. Design is deliberately simple: flag colors, serif font, no logo. Adhesive is just strong enough to stay on fabric but not so strong that it damages the material. The sticker turns voting into a visible social signal. Studies show that people who see others wearing it are more likely to vote themselves. A $0.01 piece of paper doing genuine civic work. This kind of design thinking should be applied to more public participation moments. Recognition doesn't have to be expensive or permanent to be effective. Some cities have started commissioning local artists to design custom stickers each election. Collectible aspect adds another layer where civic duty becomes a small piece of graphic art you want to keep.
