Walking into a WeWork in Dumbo last week, the lobby smelled like cedar and fresh coffee. Lighting was low and warm like a hotel bar at 5 pm. I immediately wanted to sit down even though I was just meeting someone for lunch. Couches are deep enough that you sink in. Tables between them sit at exactly the right height for a laptop without hunching. Starbucks tried the same cozy-workspace thing, but their chairs are designed to make you leave after 45 minutes. WeWork does the opposite. The furniture tells you to stay.
