Sweetgreen built their entire brand around making a salad feel like a legitimate meal rather than a side dish. Ordering through their app is faster than standing in any line on campus. Bowl combinations are designed so the warm grains and proteins balance the cold greens, and the portion is large enough that I am not hungry an hour later. Rotating seasonal menus give you a reason to come back rather than just ordering the same thing every time. Limited runs create urgency around menu items that are basically vegetables. Kitchen is visible from the counter and watching the assembly process is part of the experience because you can see that everything is being chopped and dressed in real time. App remembers my previous orders and suggests them, which saves time but also made me realize I've eaten the same 3 bowls for the last 2 months. I trust them more than other fast-casual places because the ingredients list on every item is short and readable. Transparency is worth the $15 price tag even when my budget says otherwise. Loyalty program gives credit toward a free bowl after a certain number of purchases, and earning those credits keeps me choosing Sweetgreen over cooking at home when I am being lazy.
