The Carpenter Center bookstore is full of really fascinating, current artist books. The few times that I have been inside, I think to myself that I should spend more time here. As a lover of ‘picture books’ this is a great resource but it isn’t a comfortable place to read books or study. There aren’t any comfortable chairs and since it is normally empty besides the VES faculty member who sits behind the desk, it feels a bit awkward. The design of the interior is very sleek which in turn makes it less inviting as a place to linger.
