Brita, Pur, and Berkey all filter tap water but the experience of using each one is so different that the comparison says more about design priorities than filtration technology. Brita's pitcher sits in the fridge and filters as you pour, Pur attaches to the faucet and filters in real time. Berkey is a stainless steel gravity-fed tower that sits on the counter like a piece of equipment. Brita is $25, Pur is $30. Berkey starts at $280, and I ended up with the Brita because it fit in my fridge door and I did not have to think about it after that.
