Press shot: a raw linen tote bag in oatmeal color lying on a wooden surface, with the visible bar-tack stitching on the handles and natural wrinkles in the fabric visible.

The linen tote I carry to class has handles stitched to the outside of the bag with visible bar-tack stitching rather than hidden inside. Exposed construction gives the whole thing a handmade look even though it was factory-produced. The fabric is raw linen in oatmeal that softens with every wash. After 4 months of daily use, the bottom corners have developed a rounded shape from the weight of books and a water bottle. Linen wrinkles the same way it does in clothing. The creases become part of the bag's texture rather than a flaw. Handles are long enough to go over a shoulder but short enough to carry by hand. Dual length means I switch my grip depending on how full the bag is. This bag gives me hope. A $20 object made from a natural material can replace the nylon and polyester bags that fall apart after a semester.
