Calm's Sleep Stories are basically bedtime stories for adults, narrated by Matthew McConaughey and Stephen Fry among others. They work better than any melatonin I've tried. Intentionally boring in the best way, with slow pacing, long pauses, and descriptions of landscapes or trains moving through countryside. Your mind gets just enough to hold onto without engaging fully. Audio design uses a gradual volume decrease over the 30-minute runtime, fading out as you drift off. At $69.99 a year, sleep stories are the only feature I use consistently. But they've replaced my habit of scrolling in bed, and that alone is worth the subscription. Narration quality is high enough that it doesn't feel like a meditation app trying to put you to sleep. More like a well-produced audio experience that happens to have that effect.
