Press shot: A mechanical keyboard with pastel-colored keycaps on a wooden desk, photographed from a low angle to emphasize the profile height of the switches.

Sound of a mechanical keyboard is the part I think about most. After trying 3 different switch types I realized the click is more important to me than the typing speed. Tactile feedback of each keypress creates a rhythm that makes writing feel productive unlike a flat laptop keyboard does. Community around custom keyboards is deep, with people spending hours modifying dampening foam, switch films, and keycap profiles to tune the exact acoustic signature they want. A tool this functional becoming an object people care about aesthetically is something worth a second look.
