#281 of 383Little Free Library Boxes
Editorial: A colorful Little Free Library box mounted on a wooden post in a residential front yard with its glass door slightly open and books visible inside.
Little Free Library boxes in my neighborhood run on an honor system that somehow keeps working even though nobody enforces it. Each one is a small wooden cabinet on a post, usually in someone's front yard, with a glass door and maybe 15-20 books inside. Take one, leave one. Selection rotates constantly because different people pass by at different times. Last week I picked up a Haruki Murakami novel and left a beat-up paperback I'd finished. Clever idea because it turns every block into a point of exchange without any app or membership or fee. Craftsmanship varies wildly, and some are genuinely beautiful little structures people clearly spent time building.
