Press shot: A full Citibike docking station on a New York City sidewalk with blue bikes lined up and a street scene of pedestrians and buildings behind them.

The Citibike station at my corner has 24 docks. Every morning by 8:30 it's completely empty, which tells you everything about how well this system has been absorbed into how New York actually moves. Launched in 2013 with about 6,000 bikes, early criticism targeted ugly stations, heavy bikes, and coverage limited to Manhattan below 59th Street. A decade later, over 27,000 bikes span 4 boroughs. Complaints have shifted from "why does this exist" to "why is my dock always full when I'm trying to return." Still heavy. Still 3-speed. Still that specific shade of blue. The consistency has become part of the identity now. I want one near every subway exit, and the expansion keeps getting closer.
