Editorial: a white ceramic pour-over coffee dripper sitting on top of a handmade ceramic mug on a wooden countertop, with soft natural light coming from a window to the left.

The ceramic pour-over dripper I saw at a home goods store was white with a single spiral ridge inside and a wide lip that sat perfectly on top of a mug. I wanted it immediately without knowing the brand or the price. A simple cone with 1 hole at the bottom. The weight of it in your hand feels like it was made to last for years rather than to be replaced when a new color comes out. I love that it does 1 thing and doesn't try to be part of a system or a set. The spiral ridge inside controls how fast the water drains through the grounds, which I only learned later, so the form is doing real work even though it looks purely decorative. My roommate uses a French press and we have the same conversation every morning about which method is better. Pour-over wins because the ritual of heating the water and pouring slowly is half the reason I wake up on time.
