#319 of 363Corner Bakery Pastry Case
Personal photo: a glass bakery display case lit from inside with warm light, showing rows of croissants, muffins, and scones on white plates, with handwritten index card price tags taped to the glass.
The pastry case at the corner bakery near campus is a glass box from probably the 1990s with a single warm light inside. Everything in it looks better than it should because of that light. Croissants are lined up in 2 rows, the muffins sit on a white ceramic plate. The whole display is angled toward the door so you see it before you see the menu. I want one of everything every time I walk in, and that case is doing most of that work. No website, no Instagram account, and pricing written on index cards taped to the glass make the place feel like it has been there forever even though it opened 3 years ago. A handwritten card was enough — no need to overthink it.
