Theragun Mini's engineering decisions all point in the same direction: making percussion therapy accessible without the bulk of a full-size device. It fits in one hand, weighs about 1.4 pounds, and has 3 speed settings going up to 2400 percussions per minute. I started using it after long runs because my calves get tight. The triangular grip makes it easy to reach your own back without contorting your arm into weird positions. Battery lasts about 150 minutes on a full charge, which is weeks of use for me since I only run it for maybe 5 minutes at a time. What sold me on the Therabody version over cheaper knockoffs is motor quality. Cheaper ones vibrate more than they actually percuss. You can feel the difference immediately. However, $199 is a lot for what's essentially a motor in a handle. Brand premium probably accounts for at least $50 of that price. It works well enough that I use it 4 or 5 times a week. Small enough to throw in a gym bag, but I wouldn't say it's worth the cost for someone who doesn't exercise regularly.
