#88 of 357Wordle's Daily Constraint

Wordle only gives you 1 puzzle per day and that limitation is the best design decision the game ever made. It turns a word game into a shared social ritual. Everyone who plays on a given day is solving the same puzzle, so conversations afterward have this specific quality of shared experience without spoilers. Grid of colored squares people share on social media is a clever piece of information design because it communicates your performance without revealing the answer. Interface is stripped down to a keyboard and a grid, no ads, no animations, no leaderboards. Simplicity is part of why it feels good to open every morning. One puzzle per day prevents the compulsive playing that makes other mobile games feel bad after a while.
