The Everlane ReNew puffer is made from recycled plastic bottles. I want it because the matte finish and short boxy cut look different from every shiny North Face puffer I see on campus. Knowing the fill is recycled polyester rather than virgin material makes me feel better about buying yet another jacket. At $128, it sits in a range where it isn't cheap enough to be disposable but not expensive enough to feel like a commitment. Sizing runs true based on the fit guide. Everlane publishes the factory location and cost breakdown for every product. Seeing that the markup is about 2.5x instead of the industry standard 5x to 8x makes me trust the pricing more. Color options are muted: bone, black, and olive. The silhouette is minimal enough that it doesn't scream brand or season. The collar is high enough to cover my chin when zipped, and the pockets have a fleece lining inside that my hands sink into on cold mornings.
