Personal photo: A large gymnasium-style room with yoga mats spread across the wood floor, dim overhead lighting, and about 20 students in various seated stretching poses, an instructor visible at the front.

Drop-in yoga class at the campus rec center is free with tuition and runs every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 PM. I started going because a friend made me but I keep going because the instructor has a way of making a room full of stressed college students actually exhale. Nothing serious about it, nobody is doing headstands. Saying "if this hurts, don't do it" removes the pressure that kept me away from studio classes. I trust that approach more than the high-intensity version because it seems designed for people who sit at desks all day, not people who already have a practice. The room fills to about 30 people and we all struggle with the same balance poses and nobody cares because the lights are low enough that you can barely see the person next to you.
