Student film festival on campus screened 22 short films last weekend and the ones that stuck with me were all under 8 minutes. It Makes me think constraints on length force better editing and tighter storytelling. I want to make one next year. The range of quality was huge but even the rough ones had an energy that polished YouTube content lacks, probably because there's no algorithm to perform for. Anyone with a phone and free editing software can submit, which means the stories come from everywhere.
