I listen to about 6 hours of podcasts per week, and the app I use lets you set playback speed differently for each show. It saves me more time than I expected. Interview podcasts I play at 1.3x because the pauses between questions are long and the hosts tend to repeat themselves. Narrative shows with sound design I keep at 1.0x because speeding up ruins the pacing. The app remembers these settings per show, so switching between my morning news podcast at 1.5x and a true crime series at normal speed happens automatically. The other feature I use constantly is the sleep timer, which fades the audio out over 5 minutes instead of cutting it off abruptly. I fall asleep to podcasts most nights, and the gradual fade means I don't wake up when the episode ends. It's a small detail, but it shows the designers thought about the actual context of use rather than just the primary listening scenario.
