Editorial photo of the Fellow Stagg EKG electric kettle in matte black with a walnut handle, sitting on a marble countertop next to a pour-over brewer and bag of coffee.

I don't usually pay attention to kitchen appliances, but the Fellow Stagg EKG showed up on my feed and I couldn't stop looking at it. The spout is this long thin curve designed for pouring latte art. The base has a minimal LCD screen showing the exact temperature you set. I watched a Stumptown barista use one in a video, and the stream of water was so controlled and steady it looked almost fake. Fellow clearly thought about what a kettle looks like sitting on a counter all day. The matte black finish and walnut handle make it look more like furniture than a cooking tool. At $165 it's expensive for boiling water, but I get why people who care about their coffee ritual would pay for that kind of precision.
