White canvas sneakers are the most universal shoe in any wardrobe. The fact that they go with everything is a design quality rather than an absence of design. Canvas uppers break in quickly and mold to your foot shape. The rubber sole provides enough grip for city walking without the bulk of a running shoe. White serves as a neutral base that pairs with jeans, shorts, dresses, and everything in between. The best ones have a slim profile and flat sole that makes your foot look longer. A small proportion detail that cheap versions often get wrong by making the toe box too round or the sole too thick. I've gone through 3 pairs in 4 years, and each one develops a character as it ages, with scuffs and creases that map to how I walk and where I go.
