Visual Grammar by Christian Leborg, a minimalist design reference book using a red/black/grey/white palette to teach visual design concepts clearly and beautifully.
education
I recently got this book to help build my vocabulary around visual design. I love it. The book is super clear, simple, and beautiful. It goes through a variety of ‘visual grammar’ concepts (dimensions, x and y placement, size, color, texture, rotation, etc) that are useful in most visual design spaces (eg: graphic design, web design). I’ve found it very useful to build my vocabulary around concepts and I truly love the book’s aesthetic. The color scheme is red, black, grey, and white (and nothing else!) but the author manages to explain everything clearly in this limited palette.
