3M LaserDisc, a large-format optical video disc that offered higher quality than VHS but lost the format war due to cost.

I only recently discovered laserdiscs. They’re like CDs, but the size of LPs and they have movies on them. They have higher quality video and audio than VHS tapes, but were more expensive, so VHS won in most parts of the world. Still, they look so much cooler than cassette tapes. Maybe, like the LP, they’ll experience a renaissance.
