I used a Lime scooter to get from east campus to a restaurant 2 miles away. Whole trip cost $4.50 and took 8 minutes, faster than the bus and cheaper than an Uber. Found the nearest scooter on the app's map, scanned the QR code, and it unlocked with a beep. Smooth ride on flat pavement, sketchy on the brick sections near the old quad. I'm still not sold on scooter safety in mixed traffic without a bike lane. Lime charges $1 to unlock plus $0.39 per minute, so math only works for short trips. But for those trips, it fills a gap no other option covers.
