Personal photo: A small QR code card on a wooden crate at a farmers market booth, with bins of fresh produce and handwritten price signs in the background.

The farmers market near campus started putting QR codes on small cards at each vendor booth. Scanning one brings up the vendor's full product list, prices, growing methods, and a short bio. The interface is a simple mobile-optimized page, not an app, loading fast even on bad cell service because content is mostly text with a few compressed photos. This solves the awkward interaction of wanting to know what's organic or the price per pound without asking while 5 people wait behind you. Vendors seem to like it too because fewer repetitive questions lets them focus on selling. QR cards are printed on heavy stock, held down with a small rock or clip. That low-tech detail fits the market context better than a digital display would. Before these appeared, I avoided booths where I didn't know what they sold because browsing friction felt too high. Now I scan, look, and decide before stepping up to the table. Shift has made me spend more time and money at the market than I used to.
