Personal photo: a worn leather armchair in the corner of a bookstore with a brass floor lamp beside it, a small table stacked with books, and shelves of paperbacks visible in the background.

An independent bookstore 2 blocks from campus has a reading nook in the back corner with a leather armchair, a floor lamp. A stack of staff picks on a low table, and I want to live there. The chair faces away from the register so you forget you are in a store. Lamp gives off enough light to read by but not enough to feel clinical. Nobody asks you to buy anything and there's no time limit, and that generosity with space is the reason I've bought more books there than anywhere else.
