#26 of 383Nothing Phone (2) Design
Editorial: the Nothing Phone (2) lying face down on a dark desk, showing the transparent back panel with visible internal components and white Glyph LED strips arranged in geometric patterns.
Nothing and Apple are building phones at opposite ends of the design spectrum. Nothing Phone (2) makes the case that showing the hardware is more interesting than hiding it. A transparent back panel exposes the internal components and a grid of LEDs called the Glyph Interface that lights up in patterns for different notifications. The effect is like looking at a circuit board through frosted glass. LED strips are bright enough to see in daylight and subtle enough at night that they function as an ambient light on a nightstand. Nothing charges $600 for the Phone (2), which is half what Apple charges for a Pro model, and the spec sheet holds up against everything in the mid-range. Competing on visual identity instead of camera specs, the Nothing Phone stands out from the back in a way that no Android rival can match.
