#241 of 383REI Co-op Flexlite Camp Chair
Press shot: REI Co-op Flexlite camp chair in green ripstop nylon set up on grass, showing the compact aluminum frame and low-profile seat, a packed stuff sack visible beside it.
REI's Co-op Flexlite camp chair packs down to the size of a water bottle, weighs about a pound, and holds 250 pounds. When I set it up at the tailgate last weekend in about 20 seconds, my friend asked where I bought it because he was sitting on a cooler. Designed for backpackers who count ounces, it works equally well for camping, beach trips, and sitting in line outside a venue. The aluminum frame is lighter than competing chairs from Helinox or Big Agnes at a lower price point. REI making their own gear under the Co-op label means the 10% member dividend got me $12 back on the $120 purchase. Lifetime return policy removes the risk of buying something untested. Seat fabric is ripstop nylon sitting you low to the ground, about 10 inches. Lower than a standard camp chair, but comfortable once you commit to the reclined posture and stop trying to sit upright. Wouldn't bring it to a dinner table, but for everything else it's the chair I reach for first.
