#221 of 383Beeswax Food Wraps
Personal photo: beeswax food wrap pressed over a ceramic bowl on a kitchen counter, showing the patterned cotton fabric and the molded edges where the wrap conforms to the bowl rim.
Beeswax food wraps in my kitchen drawer smell like honey and pine resin. When I press one over a bowl of leftover rice, the warmth of my hands softens the wax enough to seal around the rim. Not as tight as plastic wrap, but tight enough to keep food fresh for 2 days. Made from organic cotton coated in beeswax, jojoba oil, and tree resin, they come in 3 sizes. The medium fits perfectly over a halved avocado. I switched from plastic wrap because the waste bothered me. These can be washed in cool water and reused for about a year before the wax starts to crack and flake. Stiff when cold, pliable when warm. That temperature-responsive quality feels alive in a way plastic never does. The transition from stiff sheet to flexible seal happens in about 5 seconds of handling.
