#192 of 383Apple Maps Live Activities
Personal photo: iPhone lying face-up on a car seat showing a Maps live activity with a right-turn arrow, street name, and distance on the lock screen, dashboard visible in the background.
Apple Maps now puts the next turn direction right on the lock screen. Big and bold with the street name and a little arrow, so I can glance at my phone on the passenger seat without unlocking it or squinting at a tiny notification. Live activities feels made for people who want less screen time, not more. Information sits there quietly, updates itself, and I never have to open the app once navigation starts. Long drives make my phone warm and the battery drains noticeably. But knowing my next turn without touching anything makes it worth the trade-off. The haptic tap on my wrist right before a turn is gentle enough that I stopped flinching at it after 2 days. Now I rely on that vibration more than voice directions. Every time I drive somewhere unfamiliar, which is most places since I just got my license last year, this makes the experience feel manageable instead of stressful.
