Sweetgreen's order-ahead system is efficient but it has turned the restaurant into a place where most people walk in, grab a bag off a shelf. Leave without talking to anyone, and I am not sure that's a good trade. The salads are fine and the app works well enough. Standing in a room full of people all looking at their phones waiting for a notification feels like a design choice that prioritized speed over everything else. Customizing an order in the app and picking it up in 4 minutes is convenient, but the store itself has become a vending machine with nice lighting.
