The Muji 0.38mm gel ink pen costs $2 and writes better than pens I've paid 10 times more for. That says something about what happens when a company optimizes for function instead of branding. Thin enough for margin notes, the ink dries fast so it doesn't smear under my hand. Really, that's all I need from a pen. Three of them live in my bag at all times. When one runs out I don't feel bad about replacing it because the price makes them essentially disposable, but the quality makes them feel like they shouldn't be.
