#64 of 363Magnetic Cable Management
Press shot: Small silicone cable clips with magnets attached to the edge of a wooden desk, each holding a different charging cable at a uniform height, with a laptop and phone nearby.
Magnetic cable clips that attach to the edge of a desk and hold charging cables in place have solved a problem I didn't realize was consuming mental energy until it was gone. Each clip is a small silicone holder with an embedded magnet that grips the desk edge. It holds a cable tip at the exact height where my hand naturally reaches. Before them, cables would slide behind the desk every time I unplugged my phone. Retrieving them required crawling under the desk or pulling it away from the wall. Magnets are strong enough to hold a USB-C connector without dropping it. Silicone grips come in colors that blend with most desk finishes. A pack of 6 costs $12. Installation takes about 30 seconds per clip. The design is minimal enough that clips disappear visually once installed. Cables stay organized in a row along the desk edge. Four cables are permanently stationed at my desk now: phone, laptop, headphones, and one spare. Grabbing a cable without looking has become routine. The product sits in a category I think of as invisible infrastructure, objects whose success is measured by how rarely you notice them.
