Uniqlo sells the Airism crew neck T-shirt for $15. The fabric feels noticeably cooler against your skin than a cotton tee, making it the practical choice for anyone who walks to class in August and doesn't want to arrive soaked. Its mesh knit is engineered to wick moisture and dry quickly. The shirt weighs almost nothing, so layering it under a button-down or hoodie adds no bulk. The value is hard to argue with. Airism performs comparably to athletic base layers that cost $40-50, but it's cut and styled like a regular T-shirt, wearable in class, not just at the gym. Fit is slim without being tight, and the collar holds its shape after washing. That's where most cheap T-shirts fail. The only trade-off is that synthetic fabric doesn't absorb odor as well as cotton, but regular washing makes that a non-issue.
