Arc'teryx's Zeta SL rain shell weighs 10.6 ounces and packs into its own hood pocket. Gore-Tex Paclite construction makes it fully waterproof while remaining breathable enough that you don't overheat during moderate activity. Seam taping is applied by machine at a precision most outdoor brands cannot match because Arc'teryx manufactures in their own factory in British Columbia rather than outsourcing to contract facilities. A single cinch cord adjusts the hood fit without needing to be fiddled with. Inside the jacket the hem drawcord sits concealed so it does not flap in wind. Cut trim enough to wear over a t-shirt in summer rain without looking like a tent, this jacket avoids the main problem with most technical rain jackets that are sized to accommodate layering systems.
