Quizlet solved a problem I didn't even realize I had. Making physical flashcards takes so long that I'd skip studying altogether rather than spend an hour writing them out. The spaced repetition algorithm notices which cards you keep getting wrong and shows them more frequently. Study time actually targets your weakest areas. Searching for existing card sets that other students at my university already made for the same class is genuinely useful. Studying becomes something I can do in line at the dining hall instead of requiring a desk and 2 free hours. The free version handles everything a typical undergrad needs, though I can see how paid features would matter for medical students or anyone memorizing hundreds of terms. It's not a replacement for actually understanding material. For courses with heavy memorization, though, it cuts prep time by more than half.
