My library card works with the Libby app. I can borrow audiobooks and ebooks for free, which feels like a secret nobody talks about. People assume you need an Audible subscription to listen to books. The interface is bright and friendly with a card-catalog aesthetic. Placing a hold on a popular title puts you in a queue that moves surprisingly fast. Last month I borrowed 3 audiobooks, and the sound quality was identical to Audible's. The app syncs across devices, so I start a book on my phone during my commute and pick it up on my tablet at home. Libby is made by OverDrive. Every title I borrow counts as a circulation for the library, helping them justify their digital collection budget to the city.
