The Aeropress was invented by a frisbee engineer and it makes better coffee than machines that cost 10 times as much, which is problem-solving worth admiring. The whole device is 3 plastic pieces: a chamber, a plunger, and a filter cap. You put a paper filter in the cap, add coffee and hot water, stir for 10 seconds, and press the plunger down slowly. The total brew time is about 90 seconds and cleanup takes another 30 because you just pop the compressed puck of grounds into the trash and rinse the plunger. I've tried pour-over, French press, and drip machines. The Aeropress produces the cleanest cup with the most consistent flavor, probably because the paper filter catches oils and the pressure extraction is more even than gravity alone. For $35 it replaced every other brewing method in my apartment.
