#325 of 420Vintage Varsity Jacket
Personal photo: a vintage varsity jacket with burgundy wool sleeves and cream leather body on a thrift store rack, a chenille R patch on the chest, snap buttons and boxy silhouette visible.
A varsity jacket at the thrift store had burgundy wool sleeves and a cream leather body. Nobody makes this color combination anymore because current versions default to school colors and safe navy-and-white pairings. A chenille letter patch on the chest showed a capital R from a school I've no connection to. Patch is the point because it signals history and participation even when the context is lost. Boxy through the shoulders and short in the body, the proportions current streetwear borrows from, the fit works for reasons the original designers never intended. Silhouette was built for movement on a sideline rather than styling on a runway.
