Editorial: Penguin Classics edition of The Odyssey with the tricolor cover design, lying on a wooden table next to a cup of coffee, showing the iconic orange spine.

I picked up a Penguin Classics edition of The Odyssey at a used bookstore and the cover design is a clean tricolor band with a small illustration centered on it. An orange and white stripe on the spine makes Penguin books findable on any shelf from 10 feet away. Paper is thin but not translucent and the binding is flexible enough to hold open with one hand, which matters when you are reading on a bus. I like that the series treats every book the same regardless of whether it was written in 800 BC or 1950. The uniform design suggests that all of these works belong in the same conversation.
