Personal photo: Small handmade ceramic soap dish with raised ridges and a pale green glaze, sitting on a white bathroom counter with a bar of soap resting on top.

My roommate has this ceramic soap dish with little raised ridges on the bottom that keep the bar from sitting in its own puddle. It's such a small thing, but it means the soap actually lasts twice as long and the counter stays dry. The glaze is a pale green that looks mixed by hand because the color shifts slightly from one edge to the other. It every time I wash my hands. Someone thought carefully about drainage and aesthetics at the same time, and the result is an object that just works without asking you to think about it.
