#246 of 357Vinyl Sleeve Packaging
Press shot: Vinyl record partially pulled from a matte cardboard gatefold sleeve, showing album artwork in muted earth tones against a wooden surface.
Some albums come in oversized cardboard sleeves that fold out into a poster on one side and liner notes on the other. The texture of the cardboard matters more than you'd think, because you end up holding it while you listen. On this record, the sleeve is matte with a slight grain. Colors are muted , and it makes me want to leave it propped up on my shelf instead of filing it away. You can tell when a label cares about the physical product. Everything feels considered, from the weight of the paper to the way the disc sits in the inner pocket without sliding around. I keep picking it up and flipping it over even though I've already read everything printed on it. Vinyl has come back as hard as it has partly because objects like this make you slow down and pay attention to how music gets delivered.
