Personal photo: a campus shuttle route map posted inside a bus shelter, showing 4 colored lines with labeled stops on a simplified transit diagram, a QR code for real-time tracking in the lower corner.

The campus shuttle system has a route map posted at every stop, and the map uses a simplified transit diagram style with thick colored lines for each route and white dots for stops. Is a format borrowed from urban metro systems that works equally well at a smaller scale. It eliminates geographic accuracy in favor of clarity, straightening curved roads into clean angles and spacing stops evenly regardless of actual distance. Makes the routes readable at a glance even if you have never ridden the shuttle before. Real-time tracking is accessed through a QR code at each stop that opens a mobile page showing where each bus is on its route. Estimated arrival time updates every 30 seconds. The design of the physical sign works because it's often the first interaction a new student has with the transit system. A confusing map at the bus stop creates the impression that the system itself is confusing. Color coding is limited to 4 routes in 4 distinct colors, red, blue, green. Orange, and the legend is positioned at the bottom of the map with clear labels. I rely on the shuttle for the cross-campus trips between the engineering building and the dining hall. The predictability of the schedule, every 12 minutes during class hours, combined with the readability of the map makes it a system I trust without thinking about it.
