#43 of 315Everlane Uniform Collection
Editorial: A flat lay of Everlane Uniform basics on a white surface, showing a folded black t-shirt, navy oxford shirt, grey chinos, and dark wash jeans arranged in a grid pattern.
Everlane launched a collection called The Uniform: literally just 5 basics in neutral colors. A t-shirt, an oxford shirt, jeans, chinos, and a jacket, each guaranteed for 365 days. If anything pills, shrinks, or wears out within a year, they replace it free. The simplicity of the offer is the design statement. Instead of releasing new styles every season and hoping you buy on impulse, Everlane is betting you want the same good shirt in the same 4 colors forever. Fabrics feel solid but not heavy, and the cuts are slim without being tight, which means they work for most body types without tailoring. I ordered the black crew neck and the navy oxford. Both fit the way I expected, which sounds unremarkable but is actually unusual for online-only brands. The return rate for clothing bought online is around 30%, and Everlane's bet is that if they nail the fit on 5 staples, you'll trust them enough to skip the try-on cycle. Pricing is transparent, with cost breakdowns showing factory price, materials, labor, transport, and markup. I can't verify those numbers, but the gesture of showing your work creates trust in a category where most brands actively obscure their margins.
