Olipop makes sodas with prebiotics and plant fiber that taste close enough to regular soda that switching doesn't feel like a sacrifice. Branding positions the product as a nostalgia play for people who grew up drinking Coke and Pepsi but want a healthier option now. The vintage cream soda flavor is my favorite, slightly less sweet than actual cream soda with a profile that leans toward vanilla bean rather than artificial vanilla. Cans use a retro color palette with illustrated botanical motifs and a serif typeface referencing 1970s packaging design. The ingredient list is the real differentiator. Each can has 9 grams of fiber from cassava root, chicory root, and nopal cactus, plus prebiotics meant to support gut health. I can't evaluate the health claims scientifically, but the fiber content is verifiable. Lower sugar (2 to 5 grams compared to 39 in a regular Coke) is a meaningful reduction. At about $2.50 per can versus $0.75 for regular soda, the premium limits how often I buy them. But Olipop has found a market among health-conscious millennials who want the ritual of drinking a cold soda without the 40 grams of sugar. Poppi is the main competitor, with a similar prebiotic pitch but a bolder, more Instagram-native aesthetic and apple cider vinegar as the functional ingredient.
