Nintendo's Switch is a gaming console that works as both a TV-connected home system and a portable handheld. Clicking the Joy-Con controllers onto the sides of the tablet communicates the dual-mode concept without any explanation needed. The first time you slide the console out of the dock and the game continues on the handheld screen without interruption, you understand the product in a way that no commercial could communicate. Nintendo built the entire marketing campaign around that moment of transition, and it works because the physical gesture is inherently satisfying. Joy-Con color options let you personalize the console unlike a PlayStation or Xbox support, with neon red, neon blue, animal crossing pastels. Limited edition colors creating combinations that feel personal. My roommate has mismatched Joy-Cons in purple and orange, and the console looks different from every other Switch I've seen.
