Personal photo: A handmade ceramic mug with an uneven blue-green glaze sitting on a kitchen counter, filled with coffee, morning light coming through a window.

My mom made this mug in a ceramics class about 10 years ago. It's the only one I reach for every morning. The glaze is uneven , and it makes it feel like a person actually made it, and the handle is slightly too thick. Means you can wrap your whole hand around it when the coffee is hot. I don't know what clay body she used, but it keeps drinks warm longer than any store-bought mug I own.
