I find the design of MasterClass very compelling to my emerging design point of view. I think that the product itself is well designed to meet people where they are (on their computers) and facilitate taking them to where they want to be by a class by a world-renowned role model for any given skill. Moreover, the design itself makes it useable and accessible. The courses are actually organized by their teachers (the “masters” of many skills), in this sense it users don’t have to sign up for an academic-sounding class such as “Building a Fashion Brand”, but rather for “Diane von Furstenberg” which serves as a reminder of the ideal they are motivated to become. The classes are also designed to optimize for the user who is seeking to pickup a new hobby, such that the lessons average 10 minutes in length.
