The design comes from life and applies to life. Shigeru redesigned the toilet paper with the core in the middle quadrangular. When extracting the toilet paper wrapped in the quadrilateral paper tube, the sound of “click-click-click” will be made because of the resistance. Instead of the normal cylindrical toilet paper, which can be pulled out smoothly with just a light pull, the intention of this design is to produce inconvenience: the rectangular toilet paper roll will produce resistance, which will reduce the unnecessary amount of toilet paper that people will use each time. I like the design idea because it is subtle while the influence is profound. A small design change could remind us of the detail in life.
